My father’s service to his country, and particularly his tour of duty overseas in the CBI, was most probably the defining time in his life, but for his marriage and his child. From the time I was old enough to remember, he would tell me stories of his life in the service and the trip over the Berma road to China. At the same time, clearly most important to him were the relationships he forged with his fellow soldiers. When he was “found” by his fellow 69’ers late in his life, it was extraordinarily uplifting for him and gave him so much pleasure to have rediscovered his comrades from long ago. — Bill Finkelstein
