The Flying Tigers 69th D.R.S. Association is offering two competitive academic scholarship awards. These awards are funded by the following commemorative scholarship programs:

►  Doris van Tanner Tursky Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Chennault 69th DRS A&P Application

Scholarship Guidelines

FAA regulations require a minimum age of 18 years to apply for A&P school. Student applications are accepted quarterly.

Application Process includes the following. To apply complete steps 1-3.

#1 A written 300-word essay including:

  • The history of Gen Claire Chennault – who, what, why (his inner qualities that brought respect & success)
  • Mechanics (depot repair squadrons) in WWII what part did they play to keep all the Flying Tigers AVG and 14th Air Force planes flying?
  • Why do you choose the A&P field for your education and career?

#2 High school graduate or GED equivalent. Include grades, accomplishments and community involvement.

#3 Reference letter as to why you would be a great addition to A&P field.

#4 Upon review of application and supporting materials, students are contacted for the next step.

Doris van Tanner Tursky Memorial Scholarship Endowment

The application deadline is July 18 for the current school year unless an extended deadline is noted on the Home page of this website. Applications received after July 18 (or extended deadline) will be considered for the following school year. Scholarship recipients will be notified by phone.

In order to be eligible to compete for the scholarship award, the applicant must meet the following qualifications:

• Be a family member (e.g., child, grandchild, niece/nephew, great-niece/-nephew, etc.) of a current U.S. Armed Forces member or veteran.
• Be accepted or enrolled in a university, college, technical program, or other relevant higher education program.
• Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in the academic program (or based upon secondary school records for entering freshmen).
• Submit an official application form, with all supporting documentation and essays.

Students may reapply for scholarship funding annually (see conditions on application form). The Flying Tigers 69th D.R.S Assn. Executive Board will make the final determination of award distribution.
